Dear fellow lads, enjoy this long review!

This school crossed the line with its latest uniform policy, they claim its to make students feel belonged etc. Well listen up mister! If you think that placing these new uniform policy's on us will actually make us feel like we belong well my god you are wrong. If you want to make us feel belonged then you would let us feel comfortable and like ourselves in our own bodies. Making us all wear the same ugly uniform will only make us have self esteem issues because we don't all look dashing in school uniform. Do us a favour and let the old times roll!

The students here are alright, well some. If you end up on the wrong side of the tracks then it won't be pleasant or people won't be pleasant.

The school subjects suck, depends on the teacher you have. Going in class and sitting down listening to the teacher blah blah blah and obtaining no knowledge, its useless.

The only thing good about this school is the support system.

If you're reading this congrats! I encourage us students to protest against this new school uniform policy! Peace out before they delete my comment!

Damn the man, save the empire!

Great school. Teachers, students and management are putting efforts to make school better. Community and families should do more to support school. Please don't send negative comments about uniform policy or stuff. It is not helpful. Thank you for being considerate.

Genuinely a decent school, but there are some underlying issues. To be unbiased, I will list both pros and cons. Attended over 10 years ago for my entire High School period.

    Pros
    - HSIE department is the most consistent and, in my opinion, best department. Heralded by the late Mr Gary Carmichael, the staff members are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and, for some, over-qualified for the role (this is not a bad thing)
    - Mathematics department is generally good and dependable. There have been some questionable staff from my experience, but they have been filtered out over the years or moved on to other schools.
    - Have experienced no issues with the Science or PE departments
    - There is a decent Selective stream and Gifted & Talented class

    Cons
    - During my time at the school, there was clear favouritism and bias from some teachers. At times this unfairly affected my marks without supporting evidence or due process from the teacher
    - Partly due to the point above, there is also a significant amount of bullying which is unaddressed
    - Do not feel the current Principal correctly approaches problems with students. At one point, the Principal addressed blame to parents during a school assembly many years ago which is an unfair approach and may not address underlying problems
    - Principal strongly focused on perception management

I attended THS In Grade 7, moving to CGHS in Grade 8 because of the disruptive boys at this school. I'm giving this rating a 2 [stars] because although the principal doesn't know how to properly control his students, the teachers are all very nice and I did make many great friends who I continue to have contact with.

I was in class 7R and the boys were terrible. Once I was sent to the front office by my History teacher to get a teacher to come to the classroom and remove a boy who was being too disruptive and not listening to my teacher. Another time we had to have a lockdown because a boy/girl (not sure which, I think it was a boy though) was threatening teachers to jump off the roof a building after throwing chairs at teachers in the main hall. I just simply can't believe the principal would let this continue after getting multiple complaints per term from teachers about the terrible teaching quality.

In Grade 7 (2015) police were called in at least three times to deal with incidents including boys only. THS is a multi-sex school but the percentage of girls is about 20% which the rest is boys. I think they should just make a girls and boys THS or just make it a boys school. The teachers need to become stricter with the boys as well. There was this boy who literally walked in and out of classrooms, doesn't matter if they were his class or not, every single day and teachers did absolutely nothing to stop him from doing so.

Girls and boys smoke. I was sitting in the playground with my friend once and I heard this senior girl walk away from her friends shouting "I just want a cigarette!". If teachers and the principal in particular really think this is appropriate behavior, I don't know what to think.

If you're thinking of sending your son here, I'd encourage that completely but for girls, I would like to warn parents to be careful before applying to THS.
